I received a call early this afternoon at around 13:35. My phone only rang once, and then the call was cut short. I took a quick look to see who might have called me and hung up so abruptly, and this is what was displayed on my screen:
Missed Call: 1 (703) 2
VA, USA
I'm not familiar with this number, and the fact that it was registered in Virginia only made me think one thing: the GOV'T.
Naturally, I went to my recent call history and dialed the number to investigate the situation. The phone never connected and I was sent to an operator who's voice I was unfamiliar with. It might be unfair of me, but my personal assumption was that operators typically have the same robotic female voice. A voice that has been ingrained into my mind. But this one was very clearly male, and this is what he said:
"Your call cannot be completed as dialed. Please check the number and dial again. Or dial six one one for customer assistance. Message Tee En Ninety-Seven One Fifty-One."
Everything seemed normal until the last line. Why did he have to say that last line?
