The Hidden Man

The projections of his mind were imprinted
upon the canvas of the world.
Wherever he looked,
he saw the things
that shaped his
life. And
they all
faded
away.

A quote to ponder...

"There will one day spring from the brain of science a machine or force so fearful in its potentialities, so absolutely terrifying, that even man, the fighter, who will dare torture and death in order to inflict torture and death, will be appalled, and so abandon war forever."

-Thomas A. Edison

I really, really love this quote. Thomas Edison was clearly not just intelligent, but wise. This kind of foresight gets me so excited for some reason...

There are some interesting philosophical aspects:

"even man, the fighter, who will dare torture and death in order to inflict torture and death, will be appalled"

The vicious circle that we've found ourselves in, of using violence to control others and somehow (ignorantly) believing that it won't be given back to us in return is preposterous and stupid.

When I say things like this, I think of the U.S. foreign policy issues of late, but thats just because of my personal experience.

I wonder what kind of evil/weapon will have to come into existence for us to finally see? And how close are we to getting there?

Who knows, but I'm not sure if I'll want to be around either way.
